Matthew Rickard studied at the University of Surrey and the Royal Academy of Music where he specialised in piano accompaniment. His teachers included Michael Dussek, Clive Williamson and Graeme Humphrey. Matthew currently enjoys a busy career as soloist, chamber musician and accompanist.
Matthew has recorded several CDs for the EM Records and Toccata Classics labels with the violinist Rupert Marshall-Luck, some of which have been featured on BBC4 TV and BBC Radio 3. Matthew has also performed live on BBC Radio 3's "In Tune" programme. Matthew has devised and frequently performs in a concert series at St Peter's Church in Old Woking, where he is also organist.
Matthew is currently accompanist to Horsley Choral Society and the award-winning Farnham Youth Choir. As an orchestral pianist and accompanist he has worked with many other groups including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Moscow City Ballet, Black Cat Opera, Constanza Chorus, Genesis Chorale, Guildford Opera, Oxshott Choral Society, Royal Free Music Society and Rushmoor Choir. Matthew currently teaches the piano at Longacre Preparatory School in Shamley Green as well as having a private teaching practice in Woking.
